Why do students struggle more with decimal multiplication than addition?
Addition and subtraction just need proper column alignment. Multiplication requires correctly counting and placing the decimal point at the end — a separate rule students often forget under exam pressure. Practise by always writing the 'count decimal places' step explicitly.
How many decimal places should my child know for PSLE?
The P5/P6 syllabus covers up to 3 decimal places. Students are expected to round to 1, 2, or 3 decimal places and to convert common fractions (½, ¼, ⅛, ⅓, ⅔) to decimals without a calculator.
